Mississippi Boat Rentals!

All right, here's what's been happening in our quest for the mighty Mississippi boat cruise/motorcycle ride.

First of all, there is a small problem with riverboats that are currently cruising the river. They sometimes cruise at night and they all have set schedules. That means that we can't ride during the day and park the bikes near the boat at night and then repeat the same the next day.

Because they sometimes cruise at night, we would wake up in one location and our bikes would be at another! (Of course, we could ride all night but I'm sure that this is not something we want to do.)

They also can't store our bikes on board because the boats are flat bottomed and they just don't have any cargo space so our bikes would be left behind!

One alternative here is to rent the whole boat and set our own schedule. That would be ideal but these boats hold close to 200 people so we would have to have a large crowd sign up all at once and I don't think that's going to happen this year! (Next year, maybe?)

So, here's another alternative that might work - pontoon boat rentals.

These are quite huge, sleeping 10 to 14 people in some luxury (and most include a hot tub)!
Of course, someone would have to captain the boat each day, but (because I'm from the West Coast) I'm sure I could get a "captain" to come along with us. (Or, I guess we could take turns at the wheel and just miss out on a day's ride.)

Anyway, I'm in the preliminary stages of exploring this possibility, so I'll get back to you when I get more details.

Meanwhile, look at the photos from one of these boats that I've posted on this site. (They should show up right below this post!) Just scroll down and you can see how excellent they really are.

Let me know what you think about renting these boats by clicking on the "Comments" and "Anonymous" buttons.

Cheers,
Darry
